This fundamental bench mark was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 231.9835 feet [70.7086 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Bishopston to Carmarthen and Cowbridge to Bishopston levelling lines.

found as per previous logs, nice position near junction although in the open should be well protected on a mound and footpath

Damage has been reported by previous loggers. Some extensive chipping from one of the top edges and also one of the verical corners (see second photo). Good to see height tag in place, pity it's blank (see third photo). 2 OS plaques, one in English, one Welsh (see first photo). Photos at:

On grassy knoll over the way from the Beaufort pub, and overlooking Bishopston valley. Nice spot. The upper part of one face has suffered some rough treatment, but nothing too serious. No playpen.
