This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 466.2340 feet [142.1081 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Church Stretton to Brecon levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on S. face of lodge, S. entrance to Pont-y-wal.

Cut BM on NE angle N face, which OS have used: owner unaware of any other BM. Searched - no sign. Dates from 1920 apparently.
