This fundamental bench mark was used during the Second geodetic levelling, Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 194.9707 feet [59.4271 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Buittle to Dalry, Dalry to Thankerton and New Cumnock to Dalry levelling lines.
