Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52)
This fundamental bench mark was used during the Second geodetic levelling, Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 844.1825 feet [257.3068 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Edinburgh to Innerleithen, Innerleithen to Duns Common and Thankerton to Innerleithen levelling lines.
Third Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1956-68)
This fundamental bench mark was used during the Third geodetic levelling, Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 844.1825 feet [257.3068 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Innerleithen to Hawick and Thankerton to Innerleithen levelling lines.
Visited on 14th October 2015 by wrose. Grid reference: NT 33923 43127. Condition: Good.
Nothing really to add other than to confirm that it is still there and in good condition.

I'd walked within a few feet of this 5 years ago while climbing the Donalds on either side of the road, but didn't noticed it - I hadn't heard of FBMs then.

It seemed rude not to call here when I was walking the B709 collecting and bagging the neighbourhood NPFBs. In the middle of the Moorfoot Hills in the valley between the Garvald Punks and the Deaf Heights. FBM photographed 10/10/2006, GRP.
