Second Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1912-21)
This fundamental bench mark was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 403.0490 feet [122.8493 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Hawick to Kelso and Kelso to Duns Common levelling lines.
Third Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1950-68)
This fundamental bench mark was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 403.0490 feet [122.8493 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Duns Common to Kelso and Kelso to Hawick levelling lines.

Took quite a bit of hunting around in midsummer brambles, overhead cover preventing a decent signal. Sketch spot on though. Parking round corner.
Visited on 15th September 2004 by clochandighter. Condition: Good.
Fortunately had consulted diagram and photograph on OS GPS site before setting off. My GPSr sniffed it out for me. Behind seemingly pointless but easily climbed barbed fence, in front of ruined wall. Was mostly buried, now partially dug out. Surrounding soil and fallen branches removed to photograph. GPS plate on top. GRP.
