This fundamental bench mark was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 658.0380 feet [200.5700 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Grampound to Troon and Troon to Newlyn (Tolcarne) levelling lines.
Third Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1950-68)
This fundamental bench mark was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 658.0380 feet [200.5700 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Madron to Troon, Troon to Boscastle and Troon to Grampound levelling lines.

In excellent condition and lovingly cared for by the nice lady living in the farm opposite. She says Ordnance Survey surveyors replaced the stone a few years ago and she enjoys seeing people who come to photograph it.
