Flush Bracket G278: Edinburgh, Lasswade Road

The FB is on a wall which supported a now defunct railway line. It is on the northeast side of Lasswade Road, just south of the junction with Gilmerton Station Road on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Public access. FB facing southwest, had been somewhat dirty from traffic, but was clean when photographed on 9th November 2002.

Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52)
This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 372.8410 feet [113.6419 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Edinburgh to Innerleithen levelling line. The surveyor's description was SW face of buttress of railway bridge, NE side of Lasswade Road.
