Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52)
This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 486.5860 feet [148.3114 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Hawick to Moffat levelling line. The surveyor's description was W face of buttress of Harden Bridge, W end of parapet.

On the end of the bridge facing along the road; a new low wall appears to have been added covering the bottom of the fb below the number.
