Second Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1912-21)
This projecting bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 179.4980 feet [54.7110 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Basingstoke to Wallingford levelling line. The surveyor's description was Bracket on N. face of railway bridge, Cross Lane.

Visited on 19th February 2017 by dal. Condition: Couldn't find it.
Couldn't see it looking down. May be buried on the buttress on the E side or may have gone.

Visited on 8th April 2007 by RogerTempleman. Condition: Probably destroyed.
Couldn't see it on the central pier: it should be 90cm above track level.

Visited on 10th June 2006 by lackofluke. Condition: Inaccessible.
Bridge currently undergoing significant engineering works. The road across it is closed off completely and lengthy diversion in place.
