Terrible news! As part of the work on the bridge the bracket has been removed.

The bridge that this bracket is attached to is being renewed. As at 11 September 2010 the bench mark is visible and undamaged, but based on the work done on the other side of the road it is likely to be - at best - hidden from view in the next couple of months.

Having seen Jochta's photo, I thought this PB should have been an easy find. After all, it is painted and it sticks out. But could I find the dratted thing?

I knew there was a PB on the bridge so I had a look as I was walking to the Reading Festival from the station! It's on the N face on the bridge wall on the W side of the road just above pavement level. The wall is not vertical. http://maps.jochta.com/benchmarks.php?id=55
