Ashby Canal, Bridge 48, Dakins Bridge, N face at base of arch, E (non-towpath) side of canal. Clear infill repair matching size and shape of FB. Suspect that other location descriptions are red herrings!

Ashby Canal, Bridge 48, Dakins Bridge.
Had a long hunt around, but failed to find the FB. An early description reads "N. wall of No. 48 (Dakins Bridge), E side of canal", which suggests the non-towpath side of the canal, but nothing found there either. The various location descriptions are most confusing, so investigations continue; will return, prepared to dig for it!

Revisited in passing: group visit. Careful search above and below: did a fair bit of digging. Seems to have gone.
Logged on 5th February 2006 by iainmac. Condition: Couldn't find it.
Surprised not to find as looks original.
May perhaps be buried but it looked unlikely.
Logged on 8th January 2005 by RHW. Condition: Couldn't find it.
Not found on bridges 47 or 48 (both appear to be original brick bridges); cut BM on 49 (Poplar Terrace)
