This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 248.5360 feet [75.7538 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Hawick to Kelso levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on S.E. parapet of Rule Bridge.

Ruined old bridge still spans river but no longer has parapets. Apparently destroyed before 3GL.
