This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 238.3110 feet [72.6372 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Hawick to Kelso levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on S.W. gable end of Timpendean Cottages.

Third Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1950-68)
This flush bracket was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales. It was included on the Kelso to Hawick levelling line.

Its very easy to miss - on the end furthest from the road, behind a wooden post and nearly harled over.

Logged on 15th September 2004 by clochandighter. Condition: Couldn't find it.
The SW gable of this cottage has been rendered, long ago. Since my visit, I have identified the exact position of this FB from an old map. The FB would be to the rear (W) angle of the SW gable. Update (28/11/2006); cottage owner has contacted the administrator this site to say that the FB is still in situ, low down on the gable. Will probably revisit in the next year, time & transport permitting. I do not intend to walk the length of this line again.
