This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 22.1660 feet [6.7562 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Hibaldstow to Matlock levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on N. face of Congregational Chapel, Gainsborough.

I had to walk carefully over the big heap of snow along the side of the chapel, which seemed to have slid off the roof, an unexpected hazard for the BM logger. The FB is on a side buttress, fortunately not buried by the snow.
