This flush bracket was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales. It was included on the Hexham to Hawick levelling line. The surveyor's description was SW face of parapet of Woodford Bridge, junction with centre of stream, 21' SE of NW bank, 19' NW of SE bank, NE side of A68.

Possibly buried, or bridge rebuilt.

Another puzzler. Bridge looks original, cant see how it could be buried and I searched both side of each parapet.
13/07/2006 Amended condition to destroyed; had an email from owners of nearby 11402 - 'Woodford or the Swinburne bridge was demolished in a crash sometime in the early '90s when a quarry wagon hit it and it was rebuilt before that even when a car went through it and the driver spent all night upside down in his car in the dene - that was sometime in the '70s I think.'
