This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 227.2890 feet [69.2777 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Waltham on the Wolds to Navenby levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on pier in angle of wall, entrance to St Vincent Church, Caythorpe.

This happened to be the start point for today's walk so I retook GR readings for this and the cut mark on the church. It looks as though I got the readings mixed up in January 2010.

Still in good condition but grimy from the close passage of vehicles on the mucky wintry road. The church itself carries a cut mark.
