Flush Bracket 2977: Hinchley Wood, Sports Pavilion

Pavilion, No.65 Manor Road, SW angle, SW face [sic] - FB 2977 was used in 1949 on an experimental levelling line from Rushett Common TP to Chessington TP, and was described as "on SW face, 34 ft. from W angle, Sports Pavilion, School of Estate Management, Thames Ditton" and as "on S face at angle of porch, Sports Pavilion, Thames Ditton, SE of Manor Road South" - not known whether FB 2977 had previously been used at any other location.

Note that FB 2977 is shown in the FB register as "on S face, 33ft. from SW angle of college building" (annotated as "line Alfriston to Croydon"!). FB 2977 is recorded as "supplied to College of Estate Management" at an unknown date (though, as CEM received its Royal Charter in 1922, that would seem to be one suitable occasion). Location of CEM was apparently in Lincoln's Inn Fields from its founding in 1919 to 1941, and then (certainly in the 1950s) at 11 Great George Street, London (now part of the premises of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). Later, CEM was located at St Albans Grove, Kensington, before moving to the University of Reading in 1972.

65 Manor Rd is Surbiton High School Sports Ground. No Unauthorised Entry but gates open on a schoolday and no one around. Fb on buttress half way along sports pavilon just before row of brick pillars. Unusually high up. Has it been repositioned I wonder?
