#19 Northfield End, now a private house, was The Pack Horse until it closed in 1963 (according to the present owner). The building has a trap door to the cellar and is painted white. There is a datum cut 29" above the pavement, and a filled-in left arrow cut to the right of and below this and behind a down pipe, where there is a suggestion of a second datum cut about 2cm below the first one. I wonder if the second cut is the 1-GL mark, and the other was added without arrow because the 1-GL mark was obscured - I note the mark in the OS database was verified later than neighbouring ones. There is also an arrow carved in the kerbstone pointing towards these marks. I am a little puzzled by the slight difference between the northings of the OS database record and the one plotted for the 1-GL mark, given the OS database cut is on the north angle, and the 1-GL one is allegedly further north.
