This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 351.1970 feet [107.0448 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Newcastleton to Ecclefechan levelling line. The surveyor's description was W buttress, S parapet of bridge over Earshaw Sike.
