This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 32.7660 feet [9.9871 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Daresbury to Wrexham levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on S.W. abutment of Pulford Bridge.

As described this is on the west side of the west parapet, which is on the 'wrong' side of the wall, away from the road. It is on the large end stone of the main bridge structure, ignoring the continuing low stone wall, which is of a different style. It is possible to see the bracket by leaning over the wall, or it is only a three foot drop onto the bank on the other side. However, it is a much longer drop into Pulford Brook if you are in the wrong place! See photo on Geograph:
