It was included on the Alfriston to Croydon levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on W. face of Cleaver's Bridge.

This flush bracket was used during the Third geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 27.3330 feet [8.3311 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Croydon to Alfriston levelling line.

Logged Visits
Visited on 25th January 2013 by Calico. Condition: Probably destroyed.
Appeared to be buried. While digging a man from neighbouring house appeared and said parapet was knocked into stream a few Christmases ago. Parapet looked uniformly weathered from the roadside but looking over the stream side there was new brickwork where fb probably would have been. I stopped digging.

Visited on 30th June 2006 by Griefmiester. Condition: Good.
Only half buired now.

Visited on 11th October 2005 by iainmac. Condition: Good.
Buried to top of fb; now uncovered.

Visited on 11th September 2005 by RHW. Condition: Couldn't find it.
No sign on any face. W parapet intact & looks original. No E parapet. Poss buried in verge?
