It's definitely S6502, with S to the left of the numbers. Good condition, on roadside wall, outside large house (for sale), eastern side of Cwmphil road. I wonder whether it was repositioned on the wall when the extension to the house was built. Anyway, either Long Crag isn't S6502, or there's a duplicate, or someone's stolen S6502 from Long Crag and cemented it into a wall in Gurnos!

House has had extension built on SW corner about 15/20 years ago. No sign of fb.

I got the following from OS:
Dear Dr Templeman
Thank you for your email of 19 December 2006 regarding Flush Brackets.
I contacted our technical team regarding your query and they have advised that they have checked our Bench Mark listing and it agrees with the web site. They checked the Flush Bracket registers and they agree that Long Crag is S6502, which had been confirmed at a ground check.
We cannot check whether the Bench Mark Listing is in error as all the paper records have been taken to The National Archives at Kew.
Therefore the only way to resolve your query is to do a ground check at SN7744 0968 so we will ask our Field Surveyors to check the number the next time they are in the area.
Thank you for contacting Ordnance Survey to let us know about this error.
Kind regards
Hazel Norris
