This projecting bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 146.7780 feet [44.7379 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included as a side level on the Basingstoke to Wallingford levelling line. The surveyor's description was Bracket on N.W. face of railway bridge, N.W. end of Fair Ground, Reading.

This bridge at the end of Hodsall Road looks a good bet. However, the NW face is inside Reading Traction Depot, and behind a gate openable by rail workers. So I couldn't access to see if the PB survives.
