Finally tracked down the market cross in Mill Meadows. No sign of a cut mark or any distance information on its base section faces.

Visited Mill Meadows in an attempt to find the obelisk without luck - it's a large area and darkness falling. However, on 18 November 2008 Henley-on-Thames Town Council discussed a request to move the obelisk from Mill Meadows to the Market Place and resolved to leave it where it was....

No sign remains of the Cross at the east end of Market Place. The original cross or obelisk doubled as a milestone indicating distances to Reading, London and Oxford on three of its faces. In 1885 it was moved to Northfield End to make room for an ornate cross incorporating a fountain in memory of Greville Phillimore (Rector) - this cross was moved beside St Mary's church in 1903 where it remains. In 1970 the obelisk was moved to Mill Meadows to make way for a mini roundabout. It is evident that the obelisk's cut mark no longer has any surveying relevance, but may still physically exist....
