It was included on the Boscastle to Grampound levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on solid rock, 17 links N. from angle of fence at junction of roads, Whitecross.

Visited on 20th August 2007 by dal. Condition: Couldn't find it.
Had another go this year, particularly with the extra info from the OS database. Still no joy, but the area where the rock would be is clearer. The area is very overgrown, and there are new bungelows just to the N, so it may or may not have survived. However, I recommend a winter return, with long trousers and secateurs.

Note there is a cut bench mark on the roadside granite cross, which presumably gives the village its name?
