This projecting bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 257.3540 feet [78.4415 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Upton Lovell to Flax Bourton levelling line. The surveyor's description was Bracket on abutment of bridge over railway, Whitchurch.

Logged Visits
Visited on 26th June 2010 by Brisey. Condition: Destroyed.
The bridge has gone but slope changes in the road surface show where it was. The south side is now a private garden, but on the north side is a memorial garden for the adjacent local Royal British Legion club.
