After an interesting visit to Owston Ferry pumping engine - http://uk.geocities.com/south_street_ps/ - noted a cut mark on the bridge. This formerly crossed the sluice to the River Trent but now only pipes from the pumping station pass under the bridge. The cut mark is on a block forming part of the pillar at the S end of the W parapet.
