This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 346.2520 feet [105.5376 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Greetland to Skipton levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on coal store at gasworks, Silsden.

This one can easily be missed when the grass is high. Its at the very bottom of the wall, of course there is no longer any gasworks attached. I have to log the condition as good but it is rather rough. It looks corroded but I thought the metal was bronze and wouldn't corrode.

Silsden- wall. S side of canal by towpath, N face of retaining wall, 60m E from canal access point from road to S. Missed it last time - thanks to DW for clearing the moss.
