Second Geodetic Levelling, England & Wales (1912-21)
This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 146.5280 feet [44.6617 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Basingstoke to Wallingford levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on the Beetle and Wedge Inn, South Stoke.

In good shape on Ferryman's House of the Beetle and Wedge complex. There is now a private drive to the left of the House bearing the FB - compare with the photograph taken by John Talbot which shows buildings to the left. From the pattern of the brickwork around the FB it looks as if the FB has not been relocated.
