This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 380.4730 feet [115.9682 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Sapperton to Sharpness levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on stone pier, S.W. end of wall over entrance to Sapperton Canal Tunnel.

The 'wall' is the Daneway Portal, which stands over the northwest end of the 2-mile-long Sapperton Canal Tunnel. A plaque reveals that the portal was restored in 1996. I could find no sign of the FB.
