This flush bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 154.9210 feet [47.2199 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Sapperton to Sharpness levelling line. The surveyor's description was Flush Bracket on N. face of Stanton's Bridge, over canal at Bowbridge.

A picturesque bridge and disused canal, but new housing not far away to the north. A footpath runs from the end of the houses' access road to the bridge and beyond. Damaged but still secure in the brickwork.
